Display shows CF; compressor does not start or stops shortly after starting.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before accessing the rear compartment. Moving fan blades and live wiring are hazardous.
Steps to address CF:
- Access condenser fan: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the condenser coil, fan, and compressor.
- Inspect fan area: Look for dust buildup, debris, or wires obstructing the fan blades. Clear any obstructions.
- Check fan operation: With the panel still off, briefly plug in the unit and observe whether the fan starts when the compressor runs. Unplug again after checking.
- Test fan motor: If the fan does not run, unplug the unit and check that the fan spins freely by hand. A stiff or seized fan indicates a bad motor.
- Check wiring and connector: Ensure the fan’s connector is fully seated on the harness and at the control board. Look for damaged wires.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor is seized or open-circuit on a resistance test, install a new NewAir condenser fan motor assembly.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the rear panel, restore power, and verify that the fan runs with the compressor and the CF code clears.
Note: If the fan runs but CF persists, the control board’s fan monitoring circuit may be faulty and the main control board may need replacement.
