Safety: Unplug the cooler before defrosting or accessing internal components. Do not use sharp tools to remove ice.

Steps to address frost buildup:

• Manual defrost: Turn off and unplug the unit. Open the door and allow all ice to melt naturally, placing towels to catch water. This may take several hours.
• Inspect door gasket: Check for tears, gaps, or hardened sections. Replace the NewAir door gasket if it does not seal evenly around the door.
• Access evaporator and defrost components: Remove interior shelves and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator coil, defrost heater, and defrost sensor.
• Check defrost heater: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the heater leads and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced with a NewAir defrost heater.
• Check defrost sensor: Measure resistance of the defrost sensor/thermostat at room temperature and compare to specs. Replace the NewAir defrost sensor if out of range.
• Evaluate control board: If heater and sensor are good but frost returns quickly, the defrost control on the main board may be faulty and require replacement.

Tip: Avoid leaving the door open for extended periods, as this introduces moisture that accelerates frost buildup.
