Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before accessing the compressor and control board. Only work with live voltage if you are trained and equipped.
Steps to diagnose no compressor operation:
- Listen for compressor: Confirm that only the fan is running and the compressor is silent.
- Check control settings: Ensure the unit is not in standby mode and that the set temperature is below room temperature.
- Inspect start relay and overload: Remove the compressor terminal cover and examine the relay/overload assembly for damage.
- Test relay and overload: With a multimeter, check continuity of the overload and resistance of the relay. Replace with a NewAir compressor start relay and overload protector if faulty.
- Check control board output: A technician can verify whether the main board is sending power to the compressor when cooling is demanded. If not, replace the NewAir main control board (PCB).
Warning: If the compressor windings are open or shorted, the compressor must be replaced by a licensed refrigeration technician.
