dF
Display shows dF or DEF; heat pump cycles frequently and may not reach set temperature.
Defrost Mode / Defrost Control Fault
E1
E1 error on display; heater does not respond to keypad inputs correctly.
User Interface / Keypad Communication Fault
E2
E2 displayed; heater may run but temperature readings are clearly incorrect.
Temperature Calibration / Sensor Range Error
E3
E3 error appears and heater stops; may be associated with tripping of external safety devices.
External Interlock / Safety Circuit Open
E4
E4 error; heater may start but then shuts down quickly.
Flow Rate Below Minimum / Differential Temperature Too High
E5
E5 error on display; heater may not respond to thermostat changes.
Thermostat / Setpoint Control Fault
E6
E6 error; heater may lock out after a short run period.
Exhaust / Flue Temperature High
E7
E7 error; heater may not start fan or ignition sequence.
Fan Motor / Fan Relay Fault
E8
E8 error; heater may show erratic behaviour after lightning or power surge.
Memory / Configuration Error
F1
Pool heater will not start; display shows F1 shortly after a call for heat.
Flow Switch / Water Pressure Fault
F2
Heater attempts to ignite but shuts down with F2 error on the display.
Ignition Failure / Flame Not Established
F3
Heater locks out with F3 error after ignition; burner lights briefly then goes out.
Flame Loss / Flame Signal Weak
F4
Display shows F4 and heater will not fire; fan may run briefly then stop (on fan-assisted Certikin models).
Air Pressure Switch / Fan Proving Fault
F5
Heater shuts down with F5 error; may occur after running for some time, especially in warm weather or in a plant room with poor ventilation.
High Limit / Overheat Thermostat Trip
F6
Heater display shows F6 and will not respond to a call for heat.
Water Temperature Sensor (NTC) Fault
F7
Display shows F7; heater may run erratically or not at all.
Return Temperature Sensor / Differential Fault
F8
Heater shows F8 and will not start; may occur after a power surge or wiring work.
Control PCB Communication / Internal Fault
F9
Heater intermittently shuts down with F9; may coincide with other electrical issues on site.
Mains Supply / Frequency / Phase Fault
H1
Display shows H1 and heater will not fire; water may feel very hot at heater outlet.
Outlet Water Overtemperature
H2
Heater shows H2 and stops; may occur when pool is very cold or after long off periods.
Inlet Water Temperature Sensor Fault / Low Temperature Lockout
HP
Display shows HP (High Pressure) and heater shuts down.
High Refrigerant Pressure (for Certikin gas heat pump pool heaters)
LP
Display shows LP (Low Pressure) and heater will not ignite.
Low Gas Pressure Lockout
LPH
Display shows LPH or LP (Low Pressure) on Certikin heat pump; unit will not heat.

P4 error on Certikin heat pump; unit shuts down unexpectedly.
Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Fault
Symptom
Corrosion or green/blue staining on pipework and around the Certikin heater connections.
Chemical Corrosion / Electrolysis Damage
Symptom
Display is on but completely blank or unreadable (missing segments, flickering) on Certikin heater.
Display / LCD Failure
Symptom
Heater cycles on and off rapidly, with short run times and frequent restarts.
Short Cycling
Symptom
Heater makes loud banging or knocking noises during operation, sometimes called 'kettling'.
Boiling / Kettling in Heat Exchanger
Symptom
Heater runs but pool does not reach set temperature or heats very slowly.
Underperformance / Insufficient Heat Output
Symptom
Heater starts but shuts down after a few minutes without showing an error code.
Intermittent Safety Trip / Control Interruption
Symptom
Heater trips the electrical breaker or RCD when starting or during operation.
Electrical Short / Earth Leakage
Symptom
Heater vibrates excessively or rattles, especially at start-up or shut-down.
Mechanical Vibration / Loose Components
Symptom
Heater will not start at all; no display, no lights, and no response.
No Power / Dead Appliance
Symptom
Strong smell of gas around the Certikin pool heater, especially when attempting to ignite.
Gas Leak or Incomplete Combustion
Symptom
Visible soot deposits around the flue terminal or on the top of the Certikin gas heater.
Sooting / Poor Combustion
