AL
Freezer beeps and shows an alarm symbol or 'AL'; internal temperature is too high and food may be soft or thawing.
High Temperature Alarm Condition
dF
Display shows 'dF' or a defrost symbol and the freezer may temporarily warm slightly; sometimes misinterpreted as a fault.
Defrost Mode Indication / Extended Defrost
E1
Freezer displays E1 and temperature rises above setpoint; compressor may not start or runs briefly then stops.
Freezer Compartment Temperature Sensor (NTC) Failure
E2
Freezer shows E2 and may overcool or fail to maintain stable temperature; display temperature may be inaccurate.
Ambient / Cabinet Temperature Sensor (NTC) Failure
E3
Freezer displays E3 and may not defrost properly; heavy ice buildup on evaporator or irregular temperature swings.
Evaporator Temperature Sensor (Defrost NTC) Failure
E4
Freezer shows E4 and may stop defrosting; thick ice forms on the evaporator and airflow is restricted.
Defrost Heater or Defrost Circuit Failure
E5
Freezer displays E5 and may not cool; compressor may not start or may shut down quickly.
Compressor Start / Overload Protection Fault
E6
Freezer shows E6 and the display or control panel may be unresponsive or show incorrect readings.
User Interface / Display Board Communication Fault
E7
Freezer displays E7 and may not respond to temperature changes; sometimes accompanied by erratic compressor cycling.
Main Control Board (PCB) Internal Fault
E8
Freezer shows E8 and may not maintain correct temperature; often related to power supply or voltage issues.
Power Supply / Voltage Error Detection
E9
Freezer displays E9 and may show very high or very low temperature readings that do not match actual conditions.
Temperature Sensor Calibration / Range Error
Lo
Display shows 'Lo' or very low temperature; freezer may be overcooling and food may be excessively hard or frosted.
Low Temperature / Overcooling Condition
Symptom
Chest freezer lid will not stay open or slams shut unexpectedly.
Lid Hinge / Spring or Damper Failure
Symptom
Freezer does not restart after a brief power outage; display may be blank or flashing.
Power Recovery / Control Lockup
Symptom
Freezer door does not close properly or pops open; frost builds up around the door area.
Door Alignment / Gasket Seal Failure
Symptom
Freezer door is difficult to open again immediately after closing; feels like it is stuck by suction.
Door Vacuum / Pressure Equalization Issue
Symptom
Freezer exterior side walls feel very hot to the touch during operation.
High Cabinet Surface Temperature
Symptom
Freezer forms excessive frost or ice on the evaporator and inner walls; airflow is restricted and temperature rises.
Defrost System Failure
Symptom
Freezer interior back wall bulges or cracks, with cooling problems and possible ice behind the liner.
Inner Liner Damage / Insulation Saturation
Symptom
Freezer interior has strong unpleasant or chemical odors that persist even after cleaning.
Odor Contamination / Possible Refrigerant Leak Smell Confusion
Symptom
Freezer interior is warm, but compressor is very hot and cycles on and off frequently with clicking sounds.
Compressor Overheating / Short Cycling
Symptom
Freezer interior temperature is fine, but the digital display shows unrealistic values or segments are missing.
Display Module Malfunction
Symptom
Freezer makes loud humming, rattling, or vibrating noises during operation.
Excessive Vibration / Mechanical Noise
Symptom
Freezer not cooling at all; interior remains at room temperature, light may work but compressor is silent.
No Cooling – Compressor Not Running
Symptom
Freezer runs continuously but does not reach set temperature; interior is cool but not freezing properly.
Poor Cooling – Sealed System or Airflow Problem
Symptom
Freezer temperature fluctuates widely; sometimes too warm, sometimes too cold, without user changes.
Unstable Temperature Control
Symptom
Freezer trips the household circuit breaker or RCD when it starts or randomly during operation.
Electrical Short or Earth Leakage
Symptom
Freezer will not start after being moved or transported; display may work but compressor does not run.
Post-Transport Start Failure
Symptom
Freezer with mechanical thermostat cycles too frequently or not frequently enough, causing temperature swings.
Mechanical Thermostat Malfunction
Symptom
Frost or condensation forms heavily around the door frame and gasket area.
Perimeter Heater / Door Seal Condensation Issue
Symptom
High-pitched squealing or grinding noise from inside the freezer compartment, especially when the compressor is running.
Evaporator Fan Motor Failure
Symptom
Interior light does not turn on when the door is opened, but the freezer cools normally.
Interior Light Circuit Failure
Symptom
Water leaking from under the freezer or pooling inside at the bottom.
Drainage / Defrost Water Leak
