Phase Loss / Phase Imbalance Detection
Symptom
A burning smell is noticed near the J+ Booster during or shortly after charging.
Overheating / Component Burn
Symptom
Buttons on the J+ Booster (e.g., current selection) do not respond or respond only intermittently.
Button / Keypad Failure
Symptom
Charger cable insulation is cracked, cut, or heavily abraded in one or more spots.
Physical Cable Damage
Symptom
Charger display is blank or very dim, but the unit still charges the vehicle normally.
Display Backlight or LCD Failure
Symptom
Charger display is frozen on one screen and does not respond to button presses, though charging may continue.
User Interface Lockup / Firmware Hang
Symptom
Charger does not power on at all; no display, no LEDs, and no relay click when connected to mains.
No Power / Dead Unit
Symptom
Charger emits a high-pitched whining or squealing noise during operation.
Switching Power Electronics Noise
Symptom
Charger emits a loud humming or buzzing noise during operation that is noticeably louder than when new.
Excessive Transformer or Contactor Hum
Symptom
Charger frequently reports that charging is complete even though the vehicle battery is not full, and no error code is shown.
Premature Charge Termination
Symptom
Charger housing is cracked or shows visible impact damage, but it still appears to function.
Damaged Housing / Enclosure Integrity Loss
Symptom
Charger intermittently stops charging without any error code; charging resumes if unplugged and replugged.
Intermittent Output Interruption
Symptom
Charger is physically loose on its wall mount or mounting bracket, causing strain on cables.
Mechanical Mounting Failure
Symptom
Charger makes a rapid clicking sound and repeatedly starts and stops charging within seconds.
Relay Chatter / Unstable Control
Symptom
Charger or connector becomes excessively hot to the touch during normal charging, even at rated current.
Overheating Connector or Cable
Symptom
Charger powers on but will not start charging; display shows ready, but vehicle does not begin charging and no error code is displayed.
No Charge Start Without Error Indication
Symptom
RCD or GFCI in the house trips every time the J+ Booster starts charging, even though the charger itself shows no error.
Nuisance RCD Tripping
Symptom
Vehicle reports that the charging cable is locked and cannot be removed, even after stopping charging.
Stuck Vehicle Connector Lock
Symptom
