E01
Water heater does not ignite, burner does not light, display shows E01 shortly after a hot water tap is opened.
Ignition Failure
E02
Water heater starts ignition sequence but shuts down with E02, fan may run briefly, no stable flame.
Flame Detection Failure
E03
Water heater locks out with E03, fan may not start or stops quickly, no ignition attempt.
Flue Gas Exhaust / Fan Failure
E04
Display shows E04 and the water heater shuts down; unit may have overheated, hot water stops abruptly.
Overheat Thermostat Trip
E05
Heater shows E05, water temperature fluctuates or unit shuts down shortly after ignition.
Flow Temperature Sensor (NTC) Fault
E06
Display shows E06, water temperature reading is clearly wrong (very high or very low) or heater cycles erratically.
Outlet / DHW Temperature Sensor Fault
E07
Heater displays E07 and will not start; may occur immediately after power-up.
Flow Sensor / Turbine Fault
E08
Water heater shows E08, fan runs but ignition does not occur, or unit shuts down during operation.
Air Pressure Switch / Differential Pressure Fault
E09
Heater locks out with E09, often after long operation at high temperature; may reset after cooling.
Flue Gas Overtemperature / Safety Thermostat Trip
E10
Display shows E10, heater will not start; may be accompanied by low water pressure in the system.
Low Water Pressure / Flow Protection
E11
Heater shows E11, ignition occurs but flame is unstable, may go out with popping noises.
Gas Supply / Gas Valve Regulation Fault
E12
Display shows E12, heater may start but then shuts down, sometimes with fan running continuously.
Communication Error Between Control Board and User Interface
E13
Heater shows E13, water temperature overshoots setpoint, then unit shuts down.
Temperature Regulation Fault
E14
Display shows E14, heater does not respond to temperature adjustments or shows unrealistic setpoints.
User Interface / Keypad Fault
E15
Heater shows E15, may occur intermittently, sometimes after power surges or lightning.
Internal Control Board Error
E16
Display shows E16, heater may run at reduced power or shut down; often associated with fan speed anomalies.
Fan Speed / Tachometer Fault
E17
Heater shows E17, often related to condensate issues on condensing Termet models.
Condensate Drain / Level Fault
E18
Display shows E18, heater may not respond to external control signals (e.g., remote controller or BMS).
External Control / Communication Fault
E19
Heater shows E19, often after long periods of inactivity or after maintenance.
Ignition Lockout / Safety Reset Required
E20
Display shows E20, heater may shut down when water temperature is near freezing or in very cold conditions.
Frost Protection / Low Temperature Fault
Symptom
Water heater display flickers or dims when the burner ignites.
Voltage Drop / Power Supply Instability
Symptom
Water heater display is on but buttons do not respond or respond intermittently.
Keypad / Control Panel Malfunction
Symptom
Water heater does not detect water flow unless the tap is opened fully.
High Minimum Flow Threshold
Symptom
Water heater does not start at all, no display, no lights, completely dead.
No Power / Power Supply Failure
Symptom
Water heater emits a burning or plastic smell during operation.
Overheating Electrical Component
Symptom
Water heater emits a smell of gas near the appliance, even when not running.
Gas Leak at Appliance
Symptom
Water heater emits a whistling or high-pitched noise when running.
Gas Flow / Burner Resonance Noise
Symptom
Water heater fan runs but burner does not ignite, and no error code is displayed.
Ignition Control / Safety Chain Interruption
Symptom
Water heater frequently turns on and off in short cycles when a small amount of hot water is used.
Short Cycling / Minimum Power Mismatch
Symptom
Water heater ignites but water is not hot enough, temperature is lower than setpoint even at maximum setting.
Insufficient Heating Capacity
Symptom
Water heater ignites with a loud bang or popping sound.
Delayed Ignition
Symptom
Water heater is leaking from the flue or producing visible steam around the flue connection.
Condensate / Flue Joint Leak
Symptom
Water heater is leaking water from the bottom of the casing.
Internal Water Leak
Symptom
Water heater makes loud banging or popping noises during operation.
Kettling / Boiling in Heat Exchanger
Symptom
Water heater occasionally shuts down when multiple taps are opened at once.
Flow / Capacity Overload
Symptom
Water heater produces water that is too hot, risk of scalding, even at low temperature settings.
Overheating / Temperature Overshoot
Symptom
Water heater runs but there is a constant dripping from the pressure relief valve discharge pipe.
Overpressure / Expansion Relief
Symptom
Water heater vibrates excessively or rattles during operation.
Mechanical Vibration / Mounting Fault
Symptom
Water temperature fluctuates between hot and cold during a shower, without any error code.
