E01
Pump will not start, digital controller powers on but motor does not run; brief click or relay sound may be heard.
Motor Start Inhibit / No-Start Condition
E02
Pump starts then quickly shuts off within a few seconds; controller may display E02 and will not restart until cooled.
Motor Thermal Overload Trip
E03
Digital display shows E03 and pump will not prime; pump may run but no water flow is established.
Prime Failure / Dry-Run Protection
E04
Controller displays E04 and pump shuts down; may occur during hot weather or long run cycles.
Controller Over-Temperature / Electronics Overheat
E05
Pump runs but controller shows E05 and speed cannot be adjusted; unit may be locked at one speed or shut down.
Speed Sensor / Tachometer Fault
E06
Display shows E06 and pump will not run; often occurs after a power surge or lightning event.
Overvoltage / Undervoltage Protection Trip
E07
Pump stops and displays E07; may occur when filter is dirty or valves are closed.
Overcurrent / Motor Overload Protection
E08
Controller shows E08 and pump will not start; often accompanied by humming noise or immediate trip.
Stalled Rotor / Locked Motor
E09
Display shows E09 and pump stops; may coincide with GFCI or breaker tripping.
Ground Fault / Leakage Current Detected
E10
Controller displays E10 and pump speed drops or shuts off; may occur when filter pressure is very low.
Low Flow / Flow Sensor Fault
E11
E11 displayed and pump will not respond to keypad commands; may still run at a default speed.
Keypad / User Interface Communication Error
E12
Pump shows E12 and cannot communicate with external automation system (e.g., pool controller).
External Communication / RS-485 Bus Error
E13
E13 displayed; pump stops unexpectedly and may restart after a delay.
Internal Drive Overheat / Inverter Protection
E14
Controller shows E14 and pump will not start; often after incorrect wiring changes.
Phase Loss / Phase Imbalance (for 3‑phase AquaFlo models)
E15
E15 displayed; pump runs erratically or stops when speed is changed.
Parameter / Configuration Error
E16
Display shows E16; pump may start but immediately shut down with a loud electrical buzz.
Short Circuit / Output Stage Fault
E17
E17 displayed; pump cannot detect water temperature or heater interlock status (on integrated systems).
Auxiliary Sensor / Heater Interlock Fault
E18
E18 displayed; internal clock or schedule functions do not operate correctly.
Real-Time Clock / Backup Power Fault
E19
E19 displayed; pump cannot complete priming cycle and times out repeatedly.
Extended Prime Timeout
E20
E20 displayed; pump indicates internal memory or firmware error and may not start.
Internal Firmware / Memory Corruption
Symptom
Pump display is blank or very dim, but motor may still run or be controllable by automation.
Display / Power Supply Fault
Symptom
Pump emits a burning smell or visible smoke during operation.
Electrical Overheating / Insulation Breakdown
Symptom
Pump housing or plumbing vibrates excessively; pump may move slightly on its base.
Excessive Vibration / Imbalance
Symptom
Pump hums but does not start; may trip breaker after a few seconds.
Failed Start Circuit / Capacitor
Symptom
Pump is leaking water from the area between the motor and the pump housing (drip from bottom center).
Mechanical Shaft Seal Failure
Symptom
Pump is running but there is very low or no water flow at the pool returns; no error code displayed.
Hydraulic Flow Restriction
Symptom
Pump makes loud grinding or screeching noises while running; noise comes from motor end.
Motor Bearing Failure
Symptom
Pump motor is extremely hot to the touch, even after short run times.
Overheating Motor
Symptom
Pump runs backwards (on 3‑phase models) with poor flow and noisy operation after wiring work.
Incorrect Phase Rotation
Symptom
Pump runs but is unusually loud with a rattling or cavitation sound; bubbles visible under pump lid.
Cavitation / Air Entrapment
Symptom
Pump runs but makes a high-pitched whine that changes with speed.
Drive or Electrical Noise
Symptom
Pump runs but pool water remains cloudy or dirty despite normal flow.
Inadequate Circulation / Filtration
Symptom
Pump shuts off when spa jets or water features are turned on; no error code shown.
Hydraulic Overload / High Head Condition
Symptom
Pump starts and stops repeatedly within short intervals without user input.
Short Cycling / Control Instability
Symptom
Pump trips the circuit breaker or GFCI immediately when turned on.
Short Circuit or Ground Fault
Symptom
Pump will not prime; pump basket does not fill with water and only air is visible under the lid.
Suction-Side Air Leak
Symptom
Pump will not start on schedule but runs when started manually.
Timer / Scheduling Misconfiguration
Symptom
Pump will not turn off from the keypad; continues running until breaker is switched off.
Stuck Relay / Control Logic Fault
Symptom
Water is leaking from the clear pump lid area when the pump is running.
Lid Seal Leak
Symptom
Water is leaking from the union connections at the pump inlet or outlet.
