Internal Sensor / Configuration Fault
Symptom
Brine tank fills with water and may overflow after one or more regenerations.
Brine Tank Overfill
Symptom
Brine tank leaks water or brine from the bottom or around seams.
Brine Tank Structural Leak
Symptom
Display is dim, flickering, or resets randomly.
Unstable Control Power
Symptom
Drain line discharges rusty or very dirty water for extended periods during backwash.
Excessive Sediment / Iron in Resin Tank
Symptom
Fleck softener appears to regenerate, but the brine tank remains nearly empty of water before refill.
No Brine Refill
Symptom
Fleck softener does not draw brine from the brine tank during regeneration (brine level stays the same).
No Brine Draw / Injector Circuit Restriction
Symptom
Fleck softener does not provide any water (no flow) when in service position.
No Water Flow Through Valve
Symptom
Fleck softener emits a constant humming sound but the valve does not move.
Stalled Drive Motor
Symptom
Fleck softener emits a foul or musty odor from the brine tank or softened water.
Bacterial Growth in Brine Tank or Resin Bed
Symptom
Fleck softener is stuck in regeneration and does not return to service mode.
Valve Stuck in Regeneration
Symptom
Fleck softener leaks water from the top of the valve body or around the control head.
Valve Head External Leak
Symptom
Fleck softener makes loud clicking, grinding, or knocking noises during regeneration.
Noisy Valve Operation
Symptom
Fleck softener regenerates too frequently, wasting salt and water.
Excessive Regeneration Frequency
Symptom
Fleck softener will not power on; display is blank and unresponsive.
No Power to Control
Symptom
Fleck softener will not start a regeneration cycle automatically based on time or usage.
No Automatic Regeneration
Symptom
Fleck softener’s bypass valve is hard to turn or leaks around the stem.
Bypass Valve Wear or Seizure
Symptom
Fleck softener’s drain line discharges water even when the system is unplugged and in bypass.
Siphoning or Incorrect Drain Plumbing
Symptom
Salt level in the brine tank does not drop over time and the water remains hard.
Salt Bridge in Brine Tank
Symptom
Softener appears to be in service but water bypasses the unit and remains hard.
Internal Bypass Within Valve
Symptom
Softener occasionally delivers hard water between regenerations, then returns to soft.
Intermittent Hard Water Leakage Through Valve
Symptom
Softener provides water but pressure is significantly reduced throughout the house.
High Pressure Drop Across Softener
Symptom
Water hammer or banging noises occur in plumbing when the Fleck softener changes cycles.
Hydraulic Shock During Valve Operation
Symptom
Water is salty or has a brine taste immediately after regeneration.
Residual Brine in Service Water
Symptom
Water leaks from the brine line connection at the valve or at the brine tank.
Brine Line Leak
Symptom
Water leaks from the drain line continuously even when the softener is in service mode.
Continuous Drain Flow
Symptom
Water remains hard even though the Fleck water softener appears to run and regenerate normally.
