dF
Display shows dF and the unit may pause cooling or run a defrost cycle more frequently than normal.
Defrost Mode Indication / Defrost Fault
E1
Digital display shows E1 and cabinet is not cooling properly or temperature is erratic.
Cabinet Temperature Sensor (NTC) Failure
E2
Display shows E2 and the wine cooler does not reach the set temperature or cycles erratically.
Evaporator Temperature Sensor (NTC) Failure
E3
Display shows E3 and the ambient temperature reading is incorrect or the unit runs at the wrong times.
Ambient Room Temperature Sensor Failure
E4
Display shows E4 and the compressor or cooling system does not operate correctly (may not start or may run continuously).
Defrost Sensor or Defrost Circuit Fault (for compressor-based models)
E5
Display shows E5 and the compressor does not start or stops shortly after starting.
Compressor Overload or Start Circuit Fault
E6
Display shows E6 and the internal fan does not run or runs intermittently, causing uneven temperatures.
Evaporator Fan Motor Fault
E7
Display shows E7 and the unit may not respond correctly to door opening or interior light does not behave as expected.
Door Switch or Door Sensor Fault
E8
Display shows E8 and the unit may shut down or fail to cool, sometimes after running for a short period.
High Temperature or Overheat Protection Fault
E9
Display shows E9 and the unit may not cool or may shut down unexpectedly.
Low Voltage or Power Supply Fault
EE
Display shows EE or flashes all segments and the controls are unresponsive.
Control Panel Communication or EEPROM Error
Er
Display shows Er or Err and the unit may not respond to temperature adjustments.
Generic Control Error / Keypad Fault
H1
Display shows H1 and the temperature reading is extremely high or flashing, even though the interior feels cool.
High Temperature Sensor Reading / Sensor Short
Hi
Display shows Hi and the unit cannot be set to a higher temperature, or the interior is much warmer than the display suggests.
High Temperature Alarm / Calibration Error
L1
Display shows L1 and the temperature reading is extremely low or flashing, sometimes with the compressor not cycling correctly.
Low Temperature Sensor Reading / Sensor Open
Lo
Display shows Lo and the set temperature cannot be adjusted lower, or the unit appears to be in a low-temperature lockout.
Low Temperature Lockout / Calibration Error
Symptom
Clicking noise from compressor area; compressor tries to start but shuts off repeatedly and cooler does not cool.
Compressor Hard Start / Start Device Failure
Symptom
Compressor and fans run, but there is no frost on the evaporator and no cooling effect.
Sealed System Failure / Refrigerant Loss
Symptom
Compressor runs almost continuously with very short off cycles.
Short Cycling / Long Run Time
Symptom
Condenser fan at the rear is noisy or not spinning freely.
Condenser Fan Mechanical Failure
Symptom
Digital display is blank or very dim, but the unit still cools.
Display Backlight / Display Board Failure
Symptom
Display is lit but buttons do not respond or respond intermittently.
Unresponsive Touch Controls
Symptom
Door does not close properly or pops open slightly after being shut.
Door Alignment / Hinge or Gasket Problem
Symptom
Excessive condensation or water droplets forming on the inside glass door and walls.
High Humidity / Condensation Inside Cabinet
Symptom
Frost or ice buildup on the back wall or around the evaporator cover.
Excessive Frost Accumulation
Symptom
Interior light does not turn on when door is opened, but cooling still works.
Interior LED Lighting Failure
Symptom
Interior light stays on even when the door is closed, causing excess heat and poor cooling.
Stuck Door Switch / Light Control Fault
Symptom
Internal fan runs loudly or intermittently squeals, but cooling still works.
Worn or Contaminated Evaporator Fan Bearings
Symptom
On dual-zone STAIGIS wine coolers, one zone cools properly while the other is warm.
Single-Zone Cooling Failure in Dual-Zone Unit
Symptom
Strong chemical, plastic, or burning smell coming from the wine cooler.
Odor / Possible Electrical Overheat
Symptom
Temperature varies significantly between top and bottom shelves; some bottles are much warmer or colder than others.
Uneven Temperature Distribution
Symptom
Unit is plugged in but occasionally shuts off and then restarts on its own.
Intermittent Power Loss / Control Reset
Symptom
Unit uses thermoelectric (Peltier) cooling and no longer cools; fans may still run but interior stays warm.
Thermoelectric Module Failure (for STAIGIS thermoelectric models)
Symptom
Water pooling at the bottom of the wine cooler or leaking onto the floor.
Drainage / Defrost Water Leak
Symptom
Wine cooler interior is too cold; bottles may be freezing even at higher set temperatures.
Overcooling / Temperature Control Failure
Symptom
Wine cooler is completely warm; compressor and fans are not running at all.
No Cooling / No Operation
Symptom
Wine cooler makes loud humming, rattling, or vibrating noises during operation.
Excessive Vibration / Noise
Symptom
Wine cooler runs but does not get cold enough; temperature stays above setpoint.
Insufficient Cooling Performance
Symptom
Wine cooler vibrates excessively and can move or "walk" on the floor when the compressor runs.
Cabinet Instability / Excessive Vibration
